Job Description:
Montana Instruments, a growing high-tech Company in Bozeman Montana, is seeking a highly-skilled Cryogenic Engineer/Scientist with the deep technical domain expertise to join our Technology & Product Development team. This position will be responsible for developing novel cryogenic technologies and systems that accelerate the pace of discovery in quantum information science and technology applications. Individuals motivated by challenging design problems with a passion for mentoring the next generation of cryogenic experts will thrive in this role.
Responsibilities:

Design, build and test state of the art cryogenic instruments and systems

Serve as subject matter expert and voice of the user

Mentor and train the next generation of cryogenic system development experts

Work directly with experienced engineering design and manufacturing teams to take products from concept to product release
Key Qualifications:
- MS in Mechanical Engineering, Cryogenic Engineering, Physics, or related field and 10+ years’ experience in designing and/or using cryogenic systems or
- Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Cryogenic Engineering, Physics, or related field and 5+ years’ experience in designing and/or using cryogenic systems
- Experience with SolidWorks and/or other CAD tools
- Expertise in materials science; including manufacturing methods and materials suitable for components that operate at cryogenic temperatures
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Self-driven, team player, and results-oriented
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with liquid helium
- Experience with UHV methods and systems
- Experience with integrating electrical devices and components that operate at cryogenic temperatures
