A. Purpose and Scope of Position
This position assists the Field Services, Fire Operations team during the fire season (April-October). Work hours are irregular with evening and weekend hours required. This is an entry-level support position within the WDS Operations Division and is a seasonal full-time, hourly position with varying shifts. Shifts will include nights and weekends (Saturdays, Sundays, and some holidays) on a rotational basis. Operating hours vary by season, ranging from 7:00 am to 10:00 pm. Occasional overtime as needed to meet changing fire conditions, deadlines, client contracts, or any other operational requirements.
B. Organizational Relationship
This position reports to the Operational Logistics Lead within the Field Administration Department and the Information & Intelligence (I&I) Manager within the Information & Intelligence Department under the Chief Operating Officer.
C. Duties and Responsibilities
This unique position combines a Field Services support role with a Data Capture Analyst role to support Operations from a strategic perspective. Under leadership from the Operations Logistics Lead, this position will work with Senior Fire Officers (SFOs) and Regional Fire Officers (RFOs) to ensure that the operational needs are met.
The Operations Logistics Technician is largely responsible for supporting field operations resources. This is a cross-departmental function, as this position will need to coordinate with Field Ops, Fleet, Fire Admin, and other departments. This includes logistical support and an understanding of the details of fire operations through frequent communication with field operations. Due to the nature of the work, there will often be tasks that fall into the "other duties as assigned" category.
1. Operational Resource Management
i. Engine Schedule
1. Build the engine schedule weekly and maintain daily changes.
2. Maintain schedule when on fires includes making updates several times a day based on the Duty Officer and Fire Officers updates.
3. Update Duty Officers on Engine Schedule and consult with them to ensure accuracy of the schedule.
4. Create and Update Fire 204s daily when on incidents.
ii. Collect information and update the Daily Briefing report for Field Operations personnel when on any assignment.
iii. Build the daily RESTAT report.
iv. Work with other departments to build or change efficiencies within the company and job.
v. Work with Fleet to ensure all resource information is up to date. This may include assisting with our fleet management software and inventory to ensure all items are being maintained, serviced, and replaced if necessary, to support the fleet department.
vi. Work on projects assigned by the manager throughout the year.
2. Operational Logistics Support
i. Work with Senior Fire Officers and Duty Officers daily to ensure the field is adequately prepared.
ii. Attend daily recurring status update meetings.
iii. Communicate with field ops staff to confirm availability and build personnel schedule via phone and email.
iv. Purchase plane tickets and hotels for field personnel as needed.
v. Build reports on costs such as hotel, flights, etc.
vi. Ship clothes, tools, and other PPE to field personnel.
vii. Support Field Operations by maintaining Alliance Contracts, tracking paperwork, auditing personnel, updating the database, etc.
3. Information and Intelligence
i. Craft client-facing and internal reports and analyses
ii. Continuously document field operations and actions taken on property including managing property photos, engine movement, and property information
iii. Assist with confirming field personnel times and shifts to ensure they are correct for billing purposes.
iv. Support other I&I processes, as necessary.
4. Health, Safety, and Training
i. Support the Safety and Training Coordinator as needed on initiatives.
D. Basic Qualifications (i.e., education, certifications, years of experience, etc.)
1. Bachelor of Science Degree
2. Strong technical writing and oral communication skills
3. Fast learner
4. Wildfire or emergency management experience (preferred)
5. Logistics management experience (preferred)
6. Health and Safety experience/training (preferred)
E. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, & Personality Characteristics
For this position, an individual needs to be outgoing, flexible, adaptable to change, detail-oriented, and organized. Excellent problem-solving and communication skills to be able to talk to many different individuals throughout the company. This person must also have a solid working knowledge of the full Microsoft Office suite.

Pay: $18.00 per hour
Supplemental Pay: Bonus pay
