Job Description

The Facilities Logistics Assistant will be responsible for sourcing equipment, goods, and services and seeking reliable vendors or suppliers to provide quality goods at reasonable prices. The successful candidate will be able to perform strategic procurement activities across multiple categories of spend, negotiate prices and source the top suppliers in a multi-state region.

Organizational Relationship
This position reports to the Director of Corporate Services and on certain projects, the Facilities Coordinator.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with purchasing of orders from multiple manufacturers
  • Assist with purchasing and logistics for goods and products at all work centers
  • Interface with vendors to accomplish proper orders/delivery times/requirements
  • Preparation of all delivery documents – PIF/PO/Finance Documents
  • Conduct analysis of complex interdepartmental special projects, tasks, and actions that impacts or enhance the logistics mission
  • Maintenance of equipment logs and schedules and spec information reporting
  • Interface with Accounting for invoicing, purchasing, and payments
  • Responsible for providing effective and efficient support to Corporate Operations, Logistics, and Purchasing functions
  • Maintain a deep understanding of the transportation industry with a focus on FTL, LTL, Intermodal, and parcel, etc.
  • Responsible for providing effective and efficient support to Corporate Operations, Logistics, and Purchasing functions
  • Serves as an advisory capacity to assist other departments to obtain specifications, quotations, delivery terms, and costs.
  • Working with staff members at various levels within the company
  • Corporate facility/project tracking updates and reporting

D. Job Requirements
1. Basic Qualifications (i.e. education, certifications, etc.…)
  • Community college degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience within logistics or supply chain
  • Purchasing equipment for a dealership from multiple manufacturers
  • Excellent planning, organizing, and project coordination skills.
  • Establishing and monitoring product delivery schedules; tracking, recording, and following-up shipments
  • Able to manage the ordering, processing, and coordination of multiple purchase units per month
  • Comfortable creating presentations and reporting documentation
  • Detail-oriented people person
  • Proficient with MS Office products

  • While performing the duties of this job, this candidate is regularly required to talk or hear, and must be able to lift up to 75+ lbs., bend, climb, stand for the duration of the shift, etc.
  • Ability to successfully pass a DOT Physical
  • Requires the ability to operate power tools, equipment, and maintenance vehicles.
  • Also includes sitting, standing, and bending, repetitive motions of hands and wrists due to frequent wrist motion.
