Job Description

 

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Outside Plant Manager to ensure staking sheets on complex construction projects are clear and accurate for the crews. Act as a liaison with engineering vendors and engineering firms providing additional contract engineering to Blackfoot.
  • Plan and design complex or large outside plant construction additions including securing all required permits, easements, and preparing staking sheets.
  • Design fiber to the home (FTTH) service areas, all related OSP construction, and any other OSP approved projects.
  • Assist OSP Manager with short and long term planning for OSP cable, and facility management for all exchanges. May also do other special projects as assigned.
  • Coordinate complex highway relocation projects with road/highway regulatory agency, highway contractors, and internal construction crews or outside contractors.
  • Assist and provide advanced support to the OSP Team on plant design or permitting issues.

Education and Experience:

Any combination equivalent to the following education and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities would qualify. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills and abilities would be:

Bachelors’ degree in electrical engineering or related field; 3-5 years of experience in an engineering related field working on telecommunications inside/outside facility management systems. Experience with engineering and plant computer programs, scheduling systems, CAD and spreadsheets is preferred.

 

Physical and Other Requirements:

This position may require 8 to 10 hour days, flexible hours and some weekends.
