Job Description

Foundant’s Product Owner (PO), Client Services (CS) is responsible for defining, prioritizing, and evaluating the work generated by Client Services’ Agile teams to ensure the maturation of the implementation methodology is of the highest efficiency, incorporates best business practices, generates a rationalized team structure that is defined, established, and adjusted as required based upon lessons learned and organizational changes. The PO defines user stories, right sizing of tickets, and working directly with other Client Service managers on business priorities. This position has no direct reports. 

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ownership of CS Agile team backlog management, iteration planning, and right sizing of the user stories with acceptance criteria.
  • Ensure the backlog is visible, transparent, clear to all and shows what the Scrum Team will work on next.
  • Assigns clients to teams. 
  • Assist in Transitioning client's work across agile teams.
  • Engage with Product Owners in Pre-Sales process as required. 
  • Develop scope and define backlog items (epics/features/user stories) that guide the Agile team.
  • Lead requirements gathering effort on the feature definition as needed — consulting with Product Management, client success managers, clients, sales, and other stakeholders.
  • Lead the planning for sprints and set expectations for delivery of implementation stories. 
  • Provide an active role in mitigating blockers impacting successful team completion of sprint goals.
  • Keep abreast with Lean Agile/Scrum best practices and new trends.
  • Attend scrum meetings including standups, retrospectives, and demos.
  • Document changes to the implementation processes for release notes.
  • Serve as the voice of the CS Agile teams to organizational leadership. 
  • A leader of the CS Agile teams.
  • In coordination with the Agile Project Manager (APM):
    • Negotiates timeline changes across teams. 
    • Facilitates the removal of impediments to ensure forward progress of work.
    • Allocation of the Foundant team resources.
    • Assess value, develop cases, and prioritize stories to ensure work focuses on those with maximum value that are aligned with client priorities. APM/PO work together on understanding priorities.
    • Identifies risks and develops risk mitigation plan
  • Other duties as assigned. 

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • BA or BS degree in related field. 
  • Minimum of five (5) years of either product owner or client services direct experience. 
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and attributes in leading diverse and cross-functional teams.  
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Deep understanding and experience with Agile methodologies.
  • Creative thinker with sharp analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Management of stakeholders and their expectation.
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams to deliver on a common goal.
  • Attention to details.
