Job Description

The Agile Project Manager is a key leadership role for executing successful implementations and supporting positive relationships with clients. This team member is responsible for defining and prioritizing work to be completed by our client services team members. This role will primarily focus on Community Foundations, who are implementing various Foundant products including some or all the following: CommunitySuite, Grant Lifecycle Manager (GLM) and Scholarship Lifecycle Manager (SLM). This role will be responsible for overall project management of client implementations working with multiple Client Success Managers & Data Migration Specialists to execute successful client onboarding engagements (training plus data migration). This management involves establishing relationships with key client stakeholders throughout their implementation to ensure they are achieving their goals, objectives and ensuring that we are delivering excellent customer satisfaction throughout. Project sizes and needs will vary among clients, so the depth of relationships and project management will also vary and need to be adapted depending on the situation.


  • Lead by example and act as a servant leader.
  • Serve as the central leader of the implementation team, responsible for ensuring adherence to Foundant project governance standards and the integration and collaboration of all internal and external team members.
  • Engage in pre-sales processes to support and manage client onboarding expectations and commitments when pre-sales activities are occurring for large or strategic accounts.
  • Successfully assist in the transition of clients from the Sales Team to ensure the continuation of a strong client relationship as well as an in-depth transition of knowledge from Sales to Client Services.
  • Cultivate strong and productive relationships with key client contacts, internal team members, and potentially third-party resources, if applicable, during projects.
  • Create and regularly update project management documents and systems that ensure our teams and the client have a clear view of project status, action items, status of product commitments, schedule milestones and deadlines, risk management, acceptance checklist items and, if necessary, a post go-live issue tracker.
  • Conduct and facilitate client project kick-off meetings to clearly communicate team roles and responsibilities, review the State of Work (SOW), and baseline schedule. 
  • Establish a meeting cadence with the client’s project team, business, and executive sponsor(s) to ensure alignment on implementation status and required risk management actions. 
  • Coordinate requirements gathering efforts, consulting with Product Management, Product Owners, Client Success Managers, Clients, Migration Data Specialists other stakeholders.
  • Assess business and/or process value and prioritize user stories to ensure work focuses on those with maximum value that are aligned with client priorities.
  • Maintain a level of engagement throughout projects to facilitate team commitment to results and communicate concerns, while running point to solution issues with the team and reduce escalations to Managers and the Director of Client Services.
  • Work with Client Success Managers (CSMs) to ensure they are updating project details to reflect the status and flagging issues to be raised to management appropriately.
  • Communicate issues and raise visibility; address client concerns and questions in a timely manner.
  • Advocate for, develop, and execute action plans to improve processes and client satisfaction levels that can optimize both internal and external experiences.
  • Contribute to tracking client mood accurately and timely in our Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system.
  • Gain general product knowledge of Foundant product offerings to ensure you can direct client questions timely or potentially resolve them yourself.
  • Support process of tracking referenceable clients for the sales team to utilize with prospects.
  • Keep abreast with Lean-Agile best practices and new trends.
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Personnel Management:

  • Assigned as a direct report one Associate Implementation Specialist (AIS). 
  • Motivate, develop and coach – guide AIS team member on their continued growth and professional development through regular one-on-one meetings; recognize and utilize strengths of the assigned AIS team member and provide recognition as appropriate; evaluate and provide feedback on performance.

  • BA in relevant professional field.
  • Two or more years of experience in agile project management preferably in an information technology company. 
  • PMP or SAFe Agilist certification preferred. 
  • Ability to identify and adjust to different styles of clients and internal team members.
  • Keen attention to detail for accuracy to deliver on internal and external customer requirements with a time-sensitive approach.
  • Exceptional customer satisfaction driven approach.
  • Strong technical aptitude and ability to learn software programs.
  • Patience, empathy, and integrity approaching each situation with a fresh outlook and the client’s and team’s success in mind.
  • A team player who builds internal alignment and agreement to reach deliverables.
  • Ability to identify client needs and challenges to help deliver successful outcomes on projects.
  • Change management experience to ensure the successful rollout of internal team changes.
  • Excellent time management skills to handle multiple, concurrent tasks and deadlines.  
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Motivated, enthusiastic self-starter, with the ability to complete tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Familiarity with software systems: Confluence and Jira; Zoom, Salesforce, Zendesk, and MS Office products.
  • Familiarity with nonprofit fundraising and/or grants management.
  • Ability to travel occasionally (approx. 5-10%) for regional trainings and events.
