The Design Drafter performs computer-aided design (CAD) and manual drafts to create drawings and sketches for Gas Transmission

About this job:

  • Perform drafts using AutoCAD for the gas transmission facilities
  • Prepare drawings and sketches for engineers, supervisors, consultants, to include 2D & 3D piping assemblies, Civil Drafting and Schematic diagrams.
  • Assist engineers with analyzing and reviewing drawings and sketches to ensure accuracy
  • Modify and edit drawings and designs to drafts from notes, sketches and/or oral instructions while utilizing and apply involved complex drafting techniques and principles.
  • Track progress reports, plots, and work books for engineers and supervisors
  • Develop and prepare major layouts from engineering sketches for meter stations, city gate stations, compressor stations and transmission systems.
  • Interpret designs for compliance with and conformance to established specifications, requirements and standards.
  • Perform designing tasks involving alterations or variations in details of designs.
  • Work all required hours including evenings and weekends in response to acute services
  • Lift and manipulate a box of drafting materials weighing up to 50 pounds on a minimal basis
  • Minimal travel to training, conferences, and with engineers to off-site work areas to verify drawings ( up to 10% per year)

  • An Associate's Degree in Drafting or similar field of study or equivalent years of experience
  • Proficient with CAD systems and related products
    • Previous experience with drafting and CAD systems
    • Required to possess certain skills such as analytical thinking, interpersonal and communication skills, ability to pay particular attention to details, good time management skills.
    • Software involved including AutoCAD Civil3D, CADWorx Plant Professional, Microsoft Office.
    • Must be willing to work in a team environment and communicate well with others.
