About this position:

The Supply Chain Analyst provides support for Supply Chain procurement and contract functions. The analyst prepares reports, analyses and guidelines that aid in the execution of the overall supply chain strategy. The analyst also assists in the development of purchasing and service contracts and performs any Buyer or Contract Analyst duties as needed.

About this job:

  • Prepare recommendations for procedures, guidelines and controls that assist business units in the sourcing of materials and services in compliance with established policies and strategy
  • Prepare analyses and reports such as materials forecasts, vendor scorecards, price adjustment review, materials quotes, cost analyses and market / product assessments. Support the administration of vendor contracts to ensure the timely sourcing and delivery of materials, equipment and services
  • Act as buyer for assigned functional areas and materials categories. Perform purchasing functions from materials sourcing through completive bidding and purchase order completion
  • Act as contract analyst for assigned functional areas and services. Review, evaluate, prepare and monitor contracts for the purchase of equipment and outsourced services
  • Verify that vendors meet state, federal and other business and insurance requirements
  • Work with Legal, Risk Management, Environmental, Tax, Business Technology, and other NorthWestern Energy functional areas to complete appropriate reviews of contract terms and conditions
  • Use effective communication and relationship skills to maintain and enhance key vendor agreements
  • Maintain supply chain purchasing and contract documents, files and records
  • Work with functional areas to research and recommend materials and products. Manage and resolve vendor issues and concerns in collaboration with internal clients
  • Participate in meetings and training for the purpose of self-development and to perform tasks efficiently
  • Work all required hours including evenings and weekends as needed
  • Back up other staff members to complete tasks and duties
  • Train staff members and vendors regarding procedural requirements
  • Develop negotiation strategies for purchasing acquisitions
  • Visit with vendors regarding new products, issues or concerns
  • Travel to meetings, trainings, and conferences (up to 15% travel per year)

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in business, supply chain, accounting, contracts administration or similar field of study
  • 3 years of experience in supply chain related field or similar work experience is preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong negotiation skills and experience with developing purchasing and service contracts
  • Knowledge of SAP systems preferred
  • Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) desirable
