General Summary:
Provide all aspects of technical support for Company broadband operations, customer communications and data networking, customer owned LAN/WAN and personal computers. Installs, programs, monitors, troubleshoots, and repairs all Company broadband transmission equipment and customer broadband data communications lines and equipment.
Provisions, maintains, and troubleshoots broadband service, special circuit lines, and customer-owned equipment. May also diagnose and repair trouble in switching equipment and DWDM equipment, alarm network equipment, wireless systems, standby generators, and fiber optic equipment. Coordinates with other departments on service installations and changes necessary to update billing, plant facilities, and other company records. This position may be assigned to prepare and place orders for standard and nonstandard telco equipment and supplies, within budgetary authority, also responsible for IT related budget and implementation.
This position may require some travel away from the normal reporting location to work on projects and outages across the network.
Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve network problems, including but not limited to DSL, wireless, email and webhosting as well as the Corporate IP Network.
Assists Data Network Technicians with installation, configuration, administration, troubleshooting and maintenance of various Company software programs, including, but not limited to Microsoft Windows, Linux, VMWare, and the Microsoft suite of products.
Installs, configures, administers, troubleshoots, and maintains all Range computer related hardware, to include servers, workstations, laptops, printers, personal digital devices, scanners, and other peripherals.
Installation, configuration, administration, troubleshooting and maintenance of all Range and Corporate Networking and ISP equipment, to include Routers, Switches, Servers, DSLAMs and other ISP related equipment.
Installation, provisioning, and support of Company networks to include xDSL, FTTx and wireless. Takes action to isolate and repair network and customer communications problems.
Installs and supports customer premise cable, Integrated Access Devices, DSL Modems, and other CPE to support communications services.
Assist in the installation of networking, telecommunications and related communications hardware and data equipment to support customer services.
Works closely with affiliated company IT department personnel in support of the Corporate IT/ISP and VPN networks.
Coordinate Company Data Network Technicians and/or Network Technicians in any of the above tasks or other projects as assigned.
Monitor and maintain Company ISP network and system performance and acts to isolate / repair network problems.
Research, evaluate, and recommend hardware and software for new services or network upgrades.
May work with and provide senior level guidance to other Technicians with installations and repairs as needed.

Education and Experience:
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to an Associate’s Degree in Computer Science or Management Information Systems PLUS one to three years of work experience with minicomputer or personal computer operations. Previous experience in internet/Web site design preferred.
Range Telephone Cooperative, Inc. “Range” is a local exchange carrier providing telecommunication services to southeastern Montana and northeastern Wyoming. Established in 1953 as a non-profit cooperative, Range currently serves over 6,000 subscribers in eighteen telephone exchanges. Today, Range serves over 13,000 broadband subscribers to over 30 communities, operates over 4,700 miles of fiber-optic network, and employs more than 160 communications experts with an expertise in engineering, construction, project management, operations, and network maintenance. Collectively the executives that lead Range have a combined 150 years of experience in the communications and broadband industry. The corporation continues to grow and fulfill the demand for next-generation communication services. Range plans to invest a minimum of $150 million in fiber optic infrastructure over the next ten years.
