Who we are: Launched in April 2014, the Montana High Tech Business Alliance (the Alliance) is a nonpartisan, nonprofit 501(c)6 association of more than 200 high tech and manufacturing firms and affiliates. View our website at www.mthightech.org.

Our Mission:

  • Connect tech leaders across the state. The Alliance typically hosts six networking receptions each year in communities like Bozeman, Missoula, and Kalispell. We currently conduct online webinars and virtual events.

  • Promote Montana’s strong high tech and manufacturing sector. The Alliance serves as a voice for high tech, shining a light on the success of our member firms and increasing the visibility and influence of Montana as a growing tech hub.

  • Accelerate growth through our online jobs portal. The number one barrier to growth for member companies is finding enough talented workers. The Alliance is a matchmaker, helping people find good jobs in Montana that allow them to enjoy our beautiful state and high quality of life.

Benefits:

  • Doing meaningful work – the intern will directly impact essential activities.

  • Using your strengths – tasks vary, and duties can be tailored to your interests.

  • Expanding your career prospects – work with founders and CEOs of Montana’s leading high-tech and manufacturing firms, and add significant experience to your resume.

Responsibilities:

The Events & Member Services Intern will partner with the executive director, communications coordinator, and intern team on a variety of tasks in support of the day-to-day operations of the Montana High Tech Business Alliance. Supervisors will provide training, resources, and regular feedback to ensure assigned work can be completed successfully.

Responsibilities may include:

Events:

  • Event planning – assist staff with planning and logistics for in-person and virtual events, which may include communicating with hosts, vendors, and speakers, setting agendas, booking venues, rental cars, catering, hotel rooms, etc.

  • Manage registration for events in MailChimp and GrowthZone – email invitations, RSVP lists, guest sign-in, printing name tags, etc.

  • Outreach to members – sharing RSVP lists when applicable, assisting with registration, problem-solving, sending reminder emails, etc.

  • Attend and help on-site with events when possible – set-up, clean-up, check-in guests at registration table, take notes, coordinate Zoom participation, take photos and post to social media, etc.

Member Services:

  • Support onboarding of new members and coordinate efficient delivery of member benefits through automated messaging, resource guides, and personal outreach.

  • Assist with updating member directory and resource guide listings and keep records up to date in the Alliance member database using GrowthZone.

  • Assist with proactively managing the online jobs board - adding accounts, posting and taking down jobs, featuring new jobs weekly, and promoting jobs on social media.

  • Gather data for reporting results to the Alliance Board, members, and stakeholders.

  • Provide clerical support including scheduling meetings, creating agendas, budgets, spreadsheets, presentations, handouts, surveys, etc.

  • Look for opportunities to add value for members.

  • Other tasks as requested by the Executive Director.

Project Management and Leadership:

  • Spearhead projects – develop and follow-through with new initiatives.

  • Bring creative ideas – offer fresh perspective and suggestions for innovative ways to serve our members.

  • Take ownership of other tasks as requested by supervisors.

Who we’re looking for:

The Montana High Tech Business Alliance is looking for an essential team member who shares our passion for our mission and whose strengths and interests are a good fit for this role. High-tech moves quickly and our staff is small, so the right person for this job can hustle and wear multiple hats. We’re looking for someone who will take initiative. If you don’t know exactly how to do something or run into a roadblock, you jump in and figure it out.

The ideal candidate is conscientious about details and will deliver high-quality work on time. You love to learn and are excited to keep up with an industry that’s always changing. You communicate professionally and believe in great customer service, whether you’re helping a leader in a global software company or a student launching an app in their dorm room.

How to Apply: Please submit resume, cover letter, and three professional references to Christina Henderson, director@mthightech.org.
