Job Description

As a pioneer in digital outdoor navigation with a suite of apps, onX was founded in Montana, which in turn has inspired our mission to awaken the adventurer inside everyone. With more than 300 employees located around the country working in largely remote / hybrid roles, we have created regional “Basecamps” to help remote employees find connection and inspiration with other onXers. We bring our outdoor passion to work every day, coupling it with industry-leading technology to craft dynamic outdoor experiences.

Through multiple years of growth, we haven’t lost our entrepreneurial ethos at onX. We offer a fast-paced, growing, tech-forward environment where ownership, accountability, and passion for winning as a team are essential. We value diversity and believe it leads to different perspectives and inspires both new adventures and new growth. As a team, we’re hungry to improve, value innovation, and believe great ideas come from any direction.

OnX seeks a UX Researcher passionate about highlighting and uncovering customer insights through qualitative mixed-method research.  As an onX UX Researcher, you will influence teams to make customer-centric decisions across the product development Lifecycle. • Contribute to internal operational processes that bolster the rigor, speed, visibility, and demonstrate the value of research
  • Be a human-centered research and design advocate—have an expert opinion, use your voice, mentor and train others, and share your knowledge widely internally
  • Pioneer novel research approaches to understanding onX’s users and technologies web and mobile experiences

  • Bachelor’s degree in human-computer interaction, information science, anthropology, psychology, sociology, or related field or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of experience in the study of consumer-facing product experience research
  • Expert-level knowledge of qualitative, participatory, and mixed-method research methodologies and their execution across remote, in-person, moderated, and unmoderated formats
  • Proven experience turning research findings into actionable insights for product teams and leaders across an organization
  • A holistic and collaborative approach to defining and solving problems, and the ability to triangulate insights across varied sources of evidence
  • Strong interpersonal communication and collaboration skills; the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and persuasively across different audiences and varying levels of the organization
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication and presentation skills, with the ability to make complex ideas easily understandable
  • A strong sense of ownership, transparency, flexibility, and ability to self-initiate projects
  • Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills evidenced by the ability to self-manage and appropriately scope and manage collaborative research projects

Though not required, we would be thrilled to consider candidates with any of the following:

  • Expert-level knowledge of design patterns and common usability challenges for web and mobile applications
