Job Description

As a pioneer in digital outdoor navigation with a suite of apps, onX was founded in Montana, which in turn has inspired our mission to awaken the adventurer inside everyone. With more than 300 employees located around the country working in largely remote / hybrid roles, we have created regional “Basecamps” to help remote employees find connection and inspiration with other onXers. We bring our outdoor passion to work every day, coupling it with industry-leading technology to craft dynamic outdoor experiences.

Through multiple years of growth, we haven’t lost our entrepreneurial ethos at onX. We offer a fast-paced, growing, tech-forward environment where ownership, accountability, and passion for winning as a team are essential. We value diversity and believe it leads to different perspectives and inspires both new adventures and new growth. As a team, we’re hungry to improve, value innovation, and believe great ideas come from any direction.

onX is seeking a Lead Senior Product Manager to lead the Where domain. Product Domains are cohesive and complex areas of our product experience with key problems to solve for our customers and our business that drive our platform strategy. Each Domain has a cross-functional leadership team that includes engineering and design, and may also include geospatial and marketing depending on the Domain - this role is the Product Management seat on this team. Each Domain encompasses multiple cross-functional product squads responsible for a subset of the Domain’s charter. This is a player/coach role - the ideal candidate is an established senior level product manager with the desire to lead others and play a larger role in product strategy, vision and team leadership.

The Lead Senior Product Manager also acts as the product manager for a squad(s), leading a cross-functional product team and working directly with other product managers, engineering, QA, geospatial content, operations, product design, product marketing, brand and customer service teams to ensure alignment and product success. An ability to lead and influence multi-functional teams across departments is paramount to ensure product success.

The Where domain mission is to deliver the best outdoor content experience possible to our customers by producing the most complete, reliable, high quality and dynamic spatial data products through internal tools, value-based sourcing and industry leading map design. Working closely with partners in geospatial, engineering, cartography and product design, this role requires strong collaboration, communication, business acumen and strategic thinking to drive the team to create differentiated experiences that help customers decide where to adventure and know where they are when outdoors.

The ideal candidate has experience driving teams in complex geospatial solutions, solving problems for internal teams and ultimately external customers. The ideal candidate will have strong product management skills as an individual contributor and be able to lead a small team of direct reports within the Domain. The ability to build strong relationships is essential, with your Domain peers, direct reports and across the organization. You should be adept at the skills, techniques, and responsibilities of a product manager and have the ability to quickly gain product, business and technical knowledge in a new company, and have the people skills that build trust and influence.

This position will report to the Senior Director of Product.
