SUMMARY

The Capital Markets Analyst is responsible for supporting Treasury’s Capital Markets operations encompassing the Bank’s investment portfolio, money desk and daily liquidity management, the interest rate hedging program, BOLI portfolio and any other Treasury related operational need.  The position will also be responsible for the drafting and ongoing maintenance of operating procedures.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: other duties may be assigned.

  • Support Treasury in the operational needs of the money desk, to include the pledging and safekeeping of securities, and management of daily cash positions.
  • Produce and submit all reporting to state agencies, the FHLB and the FRB associated with the Bank’s money desk.
  • Monitor pricing of wholesale deposits and funding options.
  • Responsible for the timely submission of collateral documentation pertaining to internal and external audits of the money desk.
  • Assist in the oversight & governance of daily liquidity monitoring and measurement of exposure.
  • Assist in the maintenance of liquidity model assumption documentation, policies and procedures.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports for delivery to ALCO, risk committees, senior management, and parent company.
  • Act as dual control back-up support for securities purchase and sale operational activities.
  • Provide operational support and analyses for the interest rate hedging program as needed.
  • Provide operational support for the BOLI portfolio, including analysis of individual securities and carriers as needed.
  • Work with other departments within the Bank to generate information flow and consistency.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics or related field.  Five (5) years of treasury, ALM, credit research, portfolio analysis, banking, or accounting experience preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

 

OTHER SKILLS:

Strong analytical skills; Strong verbal and written communication skills; Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with strong competency on prioritization and task management; High proficiency in basic PC applications (Microsoft Word / Excel/ PowerPoint); Ability to build and maintain relationships; Ability to maintain confidentiality.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
