SUMMARY

Assists in the reconciliation and analysis of the general ledger to allow accurate and timely financial reporting in conformity with generally accepted accounting principles and SEC reporting requirements.  Serves as an expert user to the general ledger software. Assists with the monthly journal entries and reconciliations to maintain financial accuracy.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following; other duties may be assigned.

  • Compile financial data and prepare subsequent reports as requested.
  • Perform account reconciliations for General Ledger accounts and bank statements.
  • Process General Ledger transactions to include daily and month-end entries.
  • Manage and maintain the system requirements, policies and internal controls related to the Oracle software system.
  • Assist in the development of automated processes to increase efficiency and provide time for additional analytics.
  • Perform and document monthly, quarterly and annual analytics to ensure the accuracy of all of the financial reporting.
  • Act as a back-up resource to others within finance team.
  • Drive efficiencies through re-imagination of existing processes.
  • Perform internal control documentation and test-work.  
  • Assist in gathering of information requested by federal and state banking regulators and internal and external auditors in conjunction with regulatory examinations and audits.
  • Assist in compilation and distribution of materials to executive management and the board of directors as needed.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Accounting or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous experience in financial services or accounting environment preferred. Strong interpersonal skills.  Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Word applications.  

 

OTHER SKILLS & ABILITIES

Ability to prioritize workload.  Ability to work well with a variety of personalities and provide guidance where no functional authority exists.  Must be flexible in approach and adaptable under pressure.  Must be detail-oriented and have strong analytical skills.  Must be organized and a self-starter.  Must be able to work outside of normal business hours on occasion, including some weekends.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical accounting materials, business periodicals and other professional journals.  Ability to effectively respond to technical and complex questions from management, both in writing and orally.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to interpret and apply written technical information to the company’s unique circumstances.  Ability to solve practical problems and process variables in situations where limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral diagram or schedule form.
