About The Role

The Corporate Network Engineer II position's primary focus is to provide level III support for Keep the Lights On (KLO) activities such as proactive monitoring, performing network maintenance, and suggesting and implementing improvement opportunities to standardize and improve infrastructure operations. Additional core responsibilities include design data verification methods, disaster recovery and archive solutions. This role will implement, support, and maintain the organization's network infrastructure, including the implementation and design of hardware and software and participating in efforts to set IT network/voice architecture and standards ensuring solutions are compliant and meet GBCI IT requirements. This position collaborates with IT employees, the Network Manager and service providers to architect, design, implement solutions including providing day to day leading network and voice project support within GBCI business requirements. Additionally, this role will assist with delivering appropriate documentation to the service desk team and providing support prior to implementation and will contribute to and participate in the ongoing development and implementation of the company’s cloud strategy. This position will exercise discretion and independent judgment overseeing the testing, documentation, and engineering support of key network solutions. The position proactively works with internal information service teams in improving system and network uptime and engineering level support and collaborates with cross-functional teams to identify and design strategic solutions and data services.

Description

·    Network / Systems Engineering

·    Provide high-level customer support at a Tier III level to internal and indirectly to external service users.

·    Training and guidance to other team members and advisory to management on communications systems.

·    Work closely with solution providers to understand communications and service roadmap and assist management in ensuring readiness to deploy new functions.

·    Technical support on various communication products and services.

·    Provide a high level of customer service on request fulfillment - Request for change and Request for Information on our supported services.

·    Work with IT management to manage suppliers and ensure incident resolution is in line with established SLAs.

·    Troubleshoot customer issues with the goal of providing a resolution on first touch.

·    Stay current with Network product and industry trends, working with project and engineering team, business partners and suppliers to continually improve and align GBCI’s Network strategy with GBCI business leadership priorities as well as other GBCI IT strategies and practices.

·    Collaborate with GBCI IT architecture and engineering functions, including data center and information security teams to better understand and meet networking and connectivity needs of GBCI Divisions, through service and process improvements.

·    Ensure all Network documentation is kept current and accurate including system configurations, including dependencies on supporting infrastructure as well as GBCI-specific IP, routing, VLAN, DNS, circuit information, etc.

·    Support overall GBCI IT governance policies such as Change and Incident management, including directing and mentoring Network Admins to do the same.

·    Create configuration, deployment guidelines and standards, ensure admins adhere to and indorse GBCI Network standards.

·    Assist NIT leadership with vendor management with relation to projects, support, and service delivery.

·    Report service quality, bandwidth, latency, system capacity, licensing, and uptime metrics.

·    Report on and drive resolution for issues related to standards and process inefficiencies and other opportunities for continual improvement.

·    Service Delivery and Project Support

·    Function as a subject matter expert on projects that have network requirements

·    Contribute to projects by completing assigned responsibilities by agreed deadlines, and effectively communicating with the project team.

·    Identify, recommend, and coordinate process improvements within and across related departments to increase efficiency and improve service delivery.

·    Escalated Incident Support

·    Providing network support at a Tier III level

·    Training and guidance to Network Administrators and more junior Network Engineers

·    Respond to escalated support needs such as complex or major incident resolution and broad scale change requests for network systems and services.

·    Escalating incidents to, and work with more senior Network Engineers appropriate to meet defined service levels.

·    Collaborative troubleshooting with other teams including port/protocol diagnostics, metrics and log review for networking clients and device

 Must comply with all company policies and procedures and all applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control. Must complete the assigned online training courses and achieve a passing score by due date.

Experience with any of the following: Cisco, Brocade, or Juniper switching, routing and firewall hardware. Routing protocols, specifically BGP, OSPF and diagnosing and troubleshooting network issues and outages. TCP/IP packet analysis, using Wireshark or raw packet captures using tcpdump. Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with logical problem solving from Layer 1 through Layer 7 of the OSI model. Telecommunications industry experience highly preferred.

Additional Requirements

Travel

Up to 10% travel required: (e.g. 2 days/month) by automobile (as driver and passenger), commercial airlines, rental vehicles and public transportation and be able to lodge in public facilities. Travel will be necessary to conduct the duties of this job, and the employee must have the ability to drive and have proper licensing.
