The Mechanical Engineer that supports our SDC business has responsibility for the design, implementation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical equipment used in the manufacture of medical devices. 

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Model personal Lean Philosophy 5S behaviors in creating a continuously improving, clean, well-organized and self-maintaining work environment. Work closely with team members and others to motivate and improve 5S knowledge and implementation.
  • Follow a continuous improvement approach for team accountability for achieving high performance SQDCM (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, & Morale) targets through a visual work environment.
  • Comply with company ethics, code of conduct, policies, and best practices, with a commitment to safety in the workplace, valuing of diversity, and promotion of a harassment-free environment.
  • Design and implementation of cost-effective equipment including modifications and repairs
  • Construction of prototype and production related parts/equipment using the in-house machine shop (lathes, milling machines, drill presses, etc.)
  • Troubleshoot complex problems with manufacturing departments, sub-contractors, suppliers, and customers.
  • Plan and design new production processes.
  • Using research, analytical, conceptual and planning skills, particularly mathematical modeling and computer-aided-design.
  • Adopt and promote a high energy culture that stresses close communication and teamwork among all departments.
  • Works closely with maintenance department personnel.
  • Provide subject matter expertise for evaluating new equipment and best practices.
  • Maintain and update standard operating procedures as needed
  • Assist employees with work process issues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications/Education:

  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field required
  • Proficient with CAD, preferably SolidWorks
  • Two or more years’ experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Experience in a Federal Drug Administration (FDA) regulated industry preferred
  • Working knowledge of lathe & milling machine operation
  • CNC programming
  • Strong mechanical skills (e.g. automotive, engines, machinery)
  • Problem solving/analysis
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Excellent data collection and analysis skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)

Compensation/Benefits:

The company offers a comprehensive benefits package and compensation for this position.  The package includes base salary, bonus, equity, medical/dental/vision insurance, 401k/Match.

Salary Range for this position is $85,000 - $93,000.
