Job Description

Position Summary

This experienced design professional will provide leadership in the development, design, and coordination of client proposals, presentations and related business development projects and materials. They will be responsible for managing the daily activities of the internal graphic designers and the coordination of their proposals/presentations in addition to their own design projects. This position requires advanced experience in multiple software packages and the ability to produce large volumes of work consistently and accurately. They will also be responsible for complying with firm branding guidelines, departmental procedures and standards, internal client preferences and instructions, and mandatory solicitation requirements. The Designer must routinely address shifting priorities, stringent deadlines, and last-minute requirements to accomplish tasks within non-negotiable client deadlines. The Designer is accountable for undertaking prescribed and independent training, on-the-job learning assignments, and other opportunities to ensure growth and advancement in Graphic Design and their team’s development.  If you are an experienced graphic designer and have an interest in leading the development of impactful graphics for proposal opportunities, Deloitte’s Government and Public Services (GPS) Pursuit Center of Excellence (PCOE) team is the place for you!

Work you’ll do

As a Lead Designer you will:

  • Conceive of, design, and produce a full range of high-impact print and digital collateral to enhance readability, draw the reader into the content and distinguish Deloitte in the marketplace
  • Provide art direction and strategic guidance on overarching design themes using design building blocks (e.g., cover, callouts, iconography, infographics, photography, language)
    • Work directly with client team to develop a presentation theme that visually communicates win themes and key messages 
    • Grasp the substance of business issues being communicated and then re-articulate visual options that enhance/clarify audience understanding
    • Interface and brainstorm with senior leaders regarding the visual display of information
  • Ensure all artistic elements of the proposal/presentation adhere to the theme and deliver Deloitte differentiators consistently across all deliverables
  • Develop presentation and template themes, ensuring a creative yet consistent look and feel that enhances readability, draws in the reader, and adheres to and supports the Deloitte brand, visual identity, legal guidelines, and messaging; ensure brand and visual identity compliance
  • Manage design process
    • Conceptualize and strategize on key graphics
    • Create and update graphics
    • Adjudicate/mitigate conflicts in design content
  • Ensure accuracy and currency of published graphics, QA all graphics
  • Demonstrate the ability to think creatively and express ideas orally and in writing
  • Have active listening and decision-making skills
  • Manage document formatting using Macro-enabled templates; update Macro-enabled Word templates to customize for individual proposals
  • Ensure that proposal documents/graphics adhere to RFP delivery specifications, Deloitte quality standards, and brand standards
  • Lead or support digital delivery and print production
  • Manage content on shared team sites (i.e., SharePoint)
  • Provide guidance to and coordinate with Studio Designers to obtain graphics, formatting, and finalization support to ensure that all project milestones/deadlines are met
  • Exercise judgment and project management skill to balance priorities and communicate to teams to meet and exceed project deadlines and commitments; keep internal clients informed of projects and progress
  • Participate in initiatives for design and/or pursuit projects not related to RFP Responses

Qualifications

Required

  • Ability to travel 10% - 20%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve
  • Limited immigration sponsorship may be available
  • 6+ years of work experience
  • Professional experience in applying design and layout/formatting
  • Bachelor’s degree with preferred concentration in Marketing, Communications, Art, Business, or equivalent work experience
  • Excellent communicator – both written and oral
  • Proficient in MS PowerPoint, Word, Excel; Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator
  • Willingness and ability to create elegant, designed “feel” in programs such as PPT and Word that were not written primarily as design vehicles
  • Proven skills & educational training in typography, layout, composition, color theory & information design
  • Self-starter with strong work ethic and ability to manage own time and take initiative
  • Professional client service manner and ability to interact with all levels of management
  • Speed and agility; ability to work efficiently and effectively under pressure, developing creative design within tight deadlines
  • Experience working with teams in a professional services or large matrixed organization
  • Comfortable embedding with client service teams in ‘war room’ environments to develop and design materials in real-time
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and synthesize direction from many individuals
  • Travel required — approximately 10-20% per year, as dictated by pursuit demands

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.  The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled.  At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.  A reasonable estimate of the current range is $72,900 to $134,300.

You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
