About this position:
The Capacity Engineer will be part of a dynamic team focused on engineering specification, scope development and preliminary cost estimation of customer requested electric transmission upgrades and long-range transmission capacity plans across the company's service territory. The Engineer will develop creative plans and solutions resulting in preliminary engineering designs for transmission line rebuilds, substation expansion projects, rebuilds and other new build projects across the company's service territory. Which includes performing effective design, analysis and budgeting of multiple exciting projects and initiatives.

About this job:
- Engineer will develop engineering plans, preliminary designs and cost estimates to support NorthWestern Energy's electric transmission capacity objectives
- Coordinate with other functional groups to meet expected outcomes and strategic direction
- Perform engineering and economic analysis of multiple customer requested and transmission upgrade and capacity projects
- Develop effective substation single line and three-line diagrams and drawings
- Compile and write technical reports and estimates and develop project budgets
- Develop and coordinate projects up to 230kV
- Perform computer related functions such as engineering analysis, design, drawings, spreadsheets and database compilations
- Assist in customer and landowner field investigations and other design responsibility
- Job time is spent in the office and field environment with exposure to all field hazards and weather
- Occasional lifting of materials up to 35 pounds required
- Travel up to 20% of the time, including weekend and overnights

Am I right for this job? Here's the success profile:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering required
- E or ability to obtain P.E. desired
- Minimum 2 years of experience in electrical or mechanical engineering design highly preferred
- Demonstrate and maintain a good safety record
- Must possess strong computer, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
- Experience or knowledge in system protection and relay fundamentals is desired
- Knowledge in Project Development and Project Management principles and fundamentals is desired
- Must have excellent organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple conflicting tasks and demands
- Ability to work in a team environment and independently
- Must have a valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record
