Job Description

The Site Safety Specialist will serve as the on-site lead technical safety specialist ensuring compliance with federal, state and local safety regulations.  The Site Safety Specialist may be assigned to one project or several depending on proximity and project needs.

Essential Duties/Functions

  • Perform site inspections and develop timely written survey reports with recommendations for corrective actions as appropriate and follow through to execution of those changes.
  • Develop and recommend new procedures and approaches to safety and loss prevention based on reports of incidents, accidents, and other data gathered from construction personnel.
  • Identify key injury and or safety trends and design and drive new safety programs that improve the jobsite.
  • Review environmental reports when contaminates are identified and verifies the implementation and coordination of health and safety plans with consultants and contractors to satisfy governmental regulations.
  • Lead the investigation of serious incidents or injuries; documents the investigation gathering photos, witness statements, evidence, etc.
  • Serve on the project’s crisis management team as needed; provide timely response and assistance to incidents.
  • Conducts new hire safety orientation, daily safety huddles, weekly toolbox training and annual health and safety training.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Experience & Skills Desired

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health/Safety or relevant onsite/managerial safety experience
  • Detailed knowledge of federal, state and local regulatory compliance laws with an emphasis on OSHA as demonstrated by prior work experience.
  • Preferred experience with the following programs:
    • Microsoft Office Suite including Word and Excel
    • Procore

Certificates & Licenses

  • OSHA 30 is required
  • Current GSP or other nationally recognized safety and health certifications preferred.
