Job Description

Responsible for the development, relationship management, and retention of qualified retirement plan clients.  Conducts sponsor reviews and participant meetings and engages Wealth Advisors and Financial Consultants in providing comprehensive financial planning to plan participants. 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following; other duties may be assigned

  • Service the assigned territory which will require approximately 40% of travel under normal working conditions. 

  • Lead the development of retirement plan opportunities among the high-valued businesses of the Bank and Wealth Management.

  • Actively pursue the development of prospects and internal and external referral sources for retirement plan prospects.  Partner with retirement plan wholesalers and DCIO contacts to develop relationships and create opportunities for working together. 

  • Partner with and work closely with Wealth Advisors and Investment Specialists to help position opportunities and build a retirement plan pipeline. Meet with them and their prospects to determine what retirement solutions will best fit their needs and work with them throughout the sales process. 

  • Develop and manage proactive relationships with plan sponsors and partner relationships through frequent client contact, including on-site visits, proactive calls, consultative delivery, responsive communication, and problem resolution. 

  • Drive client retention by delivering annual plan review to decision-makers and initiating proactive client contact in line with service standards.  With assigned team delivers all aspects of participant education. 

  • Actively participate in building and maintaining presentation materials, solutions supporting documentation, and sales approach in cooperation with Retirement Services Manager. 

  • Perform all duties and responsibilities consistent with First Interstate, Wealth Management, LPL, SEC, NASD, State Insurance, State Banking, and federal rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. No override of Bank and WM Compliance Officer decisions and no willful violations of compliance regulations, policies, and procedures. Will attend all regulatory training and complete and pass required regulatory and bank training courses required by deadlines.

  • Actively engage in the success of First Interstate, promoting and supporting new and ongoing initiatives with positive active team involvement resulting in a successful outcome. 

  • Maintain positive relationships with internal and external customers while providing prompt, quality service.

  • Participate in assigned committees and teams for Wealth Management and First Interstate.  Actively participate in Bank officer, staff, advisory board, and relationship planning meetings.

  • Participate in and attend sales training, professional education, and business development training as determined appropriate by the supervisor.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) from a four-year college or university. Ten or more years of financial planning, insurance, or investment experience required. The ideal candidate will have: (1) professional designations such as CRSP, CFP, CRFA, CRPS or AIF (or equivalent); (2) State relevant insurance licenses; and, (3) NASD securities licensing including 7 and 63, 65, or 66.

OTHER SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS

Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills required. Extensive understanding of retirement plan solutions, banking and wealth management solutions and services are required. Excellent analytical skills are necessary. Team orientated. Proven track record and success in new business development. The ability to prioritize workload and remain adaptable under pressure is beneficial. Experience with Windows XP, MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint is required. 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and comprehend complex issues. Ability to perform duties in accordance with policies and procedures. Ability to effectively present information to customers, clients, and employees of the organization. Ability to effectively communicate with Supervisor.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to review, analyze, and resolve complex problems. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out day-to-day issues. Ability to deal with problems involving several variables.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
